This homestudy course titled Imaging
the Spine provides a comprehensive compilation
of information about imaging the spine. The course
is arranged as sections of information for ease
in reading and to allow time to complete related
posttest questions. Sections of this course include
an overview of the normal anatomy of the spine
as well as congenital and acquired variants. Imaging
modalities are discussed with indications and
contraindications for spinal imaging. Diseases,
conditions, and injuries and their radiographic
appearance are addressed. Radiation protection
considerations in spinal imaging are a necessary
component of any imaging course and are included.
The course contains new and emerging information
about the FRAX® fracture assessment tool for the
prediction of a major osteoporotic fracture. Also
new radiation protection information just released
by the Institute for Energy and Environmental
Research and the National Council on Radiation
Protection and also an overview of the American
College of Radiology's Blue Ribbon Panel recommendations
concerning radiation protection.

Approved by ASRT for Category A continuing education
credits, which meets ARRT renewal requirements
and for NMTCB, ARDMS and states accepting courses
