version.
This homestudy course titled Imaging Benign Breast
Disease provides a comprehensive compilation of
information about imaging the breast. The course
is arranged as sections of information for ease
in reading and to allow time to complete related
posttest questions.
The purpose of this course is to provide information
about benign breast lesions and predisposing conditions
and diseases. Also a section provides information
about the role of imaging modalities and diagnostic
procedures in the diagnosis, staging, and monitoring
breast diseases. Information about imaging modalities
is included as a section and also discussed as
appropriate to specific conditions. A section
on radiation protection in mammography provides
a review of the ALARA principles, risk versus
benefit of breast screening of asymptomatic women,
measuring radiation dose, and exposure parameters
and technical considerations in reducing radiation
exposure to the breast. The major sections of
