Among women, breast cancer is the most commonly
diagnosed cancer after non-melanoma skin cancer
and is the second leading cause of cancer deaths
after lung cancer. Ovarian cancer is the 7th most
common cancer but is the 4th most deadly type
of cancer. A possible genetic contribution to
both breast and ovarian cancer risk is indicated
by the increased incidence of these cancers among
women with a family history, and by the observation
of rare families in which multiple family members
are affected with breast and/or ovarian cancer,
This course provides in-depth information about
the genetics involved in both breast and ovarian
cancer with a final section that covers radiation
protection in mammography.
