Conventional non-contrast radiography examinations of bones, joints, and soft tissues are among the most common imaging procedures requested. Since conventional radiography images contribute to information concerning pathology and trauma, the radiographer must control factors that might otherwise distort the image. Such factors include patient cooperation, correct positioning, photographic and
geometric factors, and the proper selection of exposure factors. Subtle changes in skeletal structures can be obscured by a slight shift of the patient's body or inaccurate exposure factors. This course provides the radiographer with a thorough review of the conventional non-contrast radiography imaging of the appendicular skeleton. Basic information about adjunct imaging modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, ultrasonography, bone densitometry, nuclear medicine, and interventional examinations are also included.
Imaging the Extremities course contains the following 7 chapters:
| Chapter 1 |
The Appendicular Skeleton: A Review |
| Chapter 2 |
Patient Care and Management |
| Chapter 3 |
Conventional Radiography Positioning Protocols |
| Chapter 4 |
Imaging Modalities |
| Chapter 5 |
