This course has been updated since the original course titled Chest Pathology and Imaging Considerations was offered (ASRT approval period 12/01/05 - 01/01/08); however, has not been assigned a new course reference number. The course contains a review of anatomy and physiology, common pathology, and imaging considerations related to the respiratory and cardiovascular systems; however, new and immerging research information about tuberculosis and lung cancer has been added to the pathology section. Also included is an update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding Respiratory Protection in Health-Care Settings and Infection Control in Health-Care Settings. A new section titled Deciphering Pathogens: Blueprints for Medical Tools offers exciting information from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases about the new research approach known as "genomics". The posttest has been revised and questions added to cover the updated material. The course includes a reference with 304 pages and a posttest with 120 multiple-choice questions. This course applies to radiologic technologists (RTs) and limited radiographers.
