Bone Health & Osteoporosis

This
course provides current information about the
importance of bone health to overall health and
quality of life. The course includes a review
of the structural composition of bones and important
impacts contributing to poor bone health. This
includes risk factors associated with osteoporosis
and common bone diseases. It presents facts versus
fiction concerning bone health and screening recommendations
for the measurement of bone mineral density. The
recommended dietary guidelines necessary to maintain
good bone health is included as well as an introduction
to the confounding factors such as hereditary,
diet, environment, and health status on bone health.
The course includes a 204 page reference and a
posttest with 120 multiple-choice questions. This
course applies to radiologic technologists and
limited radiographers and will prove helpful to
individuals performing bone densitometry procedures
and screening.
